100 Watt Single Channel & 50 Watt Dual Channel X-Band SSPAs

Problem

Key mission critical EW systems have been served by aging TWT amplifiers, but the required tubes were not only unreliable, but to compound the problem they had become unavailable. A US government agency needed a form, fit and function replacement for the TWTA and required full qualification for a flight environment.

Solution

Based on its new 4-18 GHz Spatium platform that provides reduced size and weight when compared to the 2-20 GHz unit, CAP Wireless produced two radically new designs that broke barriers of size, weight, power and efficiency – a single channel 100 Watt SSPA and a dual 50 Watt per channel unit. A direct, bolt-in replacement for the existing TWTAs, noise and harmonic distortion was so superior that the customer had to modify their test setup to measure the improved performance.

Both models have passed full flight hardware qualification and are currently being flown on successful missions.
