50 Watt Ku Band Satcom

Initially developed for ultra broadband SSPAs, during 2008 CAP initiated an internal program to evaluate Spatium as a platform for relatively narrow band Satcom applications. Using the highest power GaAs MMIC power devices available at the time CAP developed a 13.7 GHz to 14.5 GHz block upconverter. The result was a 50W BUC with distortion characteristics capable of meeting stringent telecom standards. This project proved that Spatium is superior to other spatial combining systems with respect to efficiency and linearity.
