40 Watt 6-18 GHz SSPA
CAP Wireless model CHPA0618-1-G45 has been in production since 2008. Using the highest power GaAs MMIC devices available at the time and built on CAP's 2-20 GHz platform, this unit produces 40 Watts saturated power output from 6 GHz to nearly 18 GHz.
Development is currently underway that will utilize newer GaN devices that will be incorporated in CAP's new 4-18 GHz structure. Combined with recent thermal design upgrades, CAP will introduce a 100+ Watt unit in 2012 featuring reduced size and weight and higher RF power efficiency. While the current unit has been used primarily for test and measurement applications, a version of the new model will be fully flight qualified for application in airborne EW systems.
